Baptism

Austin Shaw, Jennifer Shaw, and Hayley Licourt were baptized today at St. Mary's Chapel by Dr. Patrick Maloy.

Low Country Eats: Mert's!

Tonight, we had a great time at Mert's in the heart if uptown Charlotte! Austin, Marc, Brenda, and I all had something different. My blackened salmon hit the spot. Wow! The right spices today!

Hiddenite: The Great Dig

Well, we didn't make it rich – as far as I know!

We have a great family couple in town this week, Marc and Brenda from Phoenix. Marc is a long time friend of mine from school in Phoenix. And if you’re an avid blog reader, you’d remember the trip to Phoenix for the wedding last year!

So on Sunday we went to the Hiddenite Gem in Hiddenite, NC. Hiddenite Gem. I never knew it existed. Marc and Brenda had saw it on the Discovery Channel. Go figure! If you every go, bring cloths we can get dirty in! It was fun. We had a blast. We chose to walk/mine the creek first.


We picked a spot and went at it. Even the kids were in the action. Austin was panning like a pro.

Jenni did a little, but was having more fun walking up and down the creek. It was a bit cold at first. However, as you worked the rocks, it warmed up fine.

We later had some buckets of dirt to sift through.

It was great. Austin really had a blast. Marc, Brenda, Austin, and mom all got some cool rocks.
