How has God used New Life 91.9 in your life?

My name is Kristine. I am 38 years old. I am married to a wonderful husband, David, and we have two beautiful children – Austin (5 years old) and Jennifer (2 years old). I started listening to New Life 91.9 in September of 2007. I just felt a need to be closer to God. I was immediately hooked on your ministry and the uplifting and inspirational music. The fact that the station is Family Friendly was an added bonus! My story begins with an email that I received at work shortly after starting to listen to your radio station. The email notified everyone that the wife of a colleague passed away due to melanoma. The first thing that went through my mind was the following question: “You can die from Melanoma?” I had always been meaning to go to the dermatologist to have my spots checked, but I always put it off for one reason or another. The email prompted me to call a dermatologist that same day to schedule an appointment. The appointment was scheduled and it was just three days away. When I went to my doctor’s appointment the dermatologist determined that two spots needed to be biopsied. I was a little surprised, but I wasn’t nervous yet, and the biopsies were painless. After all I have never been big on sunbathing; what were my odds of having melanoma… The doctor told me to call the office after seven days to obtain the results of my biopsies. Within two days the dermatologist was calling me at home. I immediately knew that it couldn’t be good news. She told me that one of the biopsies came back as melanoma. The spot needed to be removed by surgical excision immediately. I was in shock. It all finally dawned on me why I was being drawn closer to God. I was going to need him with me during the excision. I couldn’t have been more right. The procedure was the worst thing that I have ever experienced in my life – and I’ve had two children. I had no idea that the excision would be as devastating as it was, so I went alone while my husband watched the kids. Of course I was not really alone. God was there with me and I truly never needed him more than I did at that moment. The excision was successful and all of the melanoma was removed. I have to go to the dermatologist every four months for the next year to be monitored for any more signs of melanoma. So far, so good. Through it all I continue to be a loyal listener to New Life 91.9. I am sincerely grateful for your ministry! Thank you for everything that you do!
