Take Your Sons And Daughters To Work Day

Thursday, April 26, was Take Your Sons And Daughters To Work Day at KPMG. Krissy took Sariah with her to work. The day didn't begin until noon for the kids, so Sariah sat at Krissy's desk all morning. They did some work, took frequent breaks, played around...like photocopying their hands, and Sariah also put her hair up in an 80s style...Silly!!

At noon the parents and kids were treated to a hot dog and/or hamburger lunch. After lunch the parents went back to work and the fun began for the kids. All of the kids got bright green KPMG t-shirts, book bags, KPMG baseball caps, stationary, pens, and candy.

The kids played games, did karaoke, and took an office tour. Sariah hung out with Anna Powell. Anna's brother Jake was there too. He hung out with Christoper Alden. Here is a shot of the four of them together.

At 3:00 the entire office was invited to join the kids for an ice cream social. At 4:00 we had to leave the office, drive home, change clothes, eat some dinner, and get Sariah to school by 6:15 for her chorus concert. What a busy day!

Keeping Busy

It has been very busy at the Shaw household. Mom has been working longer hours due to the April 17, tax deadline.

On the weekends we have been going to the Boardwalk to feed the ducks. Lots of the ducks have made nests and they are sitting on their eggs waiting for them to hatch. Sariah and Austin walk around looking in the bushes for nests and mommy ducks. It is a lot of fun. We cannot wait for the eggs to hatch. There are going to be a lot of baby ducks this spring.

The Ingram twins came over to play on Saturday. Dad decided it would be fun to get the paint gun out and Sariah got hit in the leg...Ouch!

Dad has been busy putting two new storage cabinets together for the garage. Where did all this stuff that we have accumulated come from. It is amazing how little space we have now, and five years ago it seemed like a lot of space.

Austin bumped his head yesterday. He was climbing on the wobbly ladder on our swingset when he lost his footing. He got quite a goose egg on his forehead. Dad called the doctor and they told us what to watch out for. Our neighbor, Sheryl, who is a nurse came over and looked at Austin as well. She too said he was okay.

Is The Shaw Family Luck Changing?

On Saturday, March 31, we went to Northlakes Mall to their second annual Marshmallow Blast. They shot off 50,000 mini marshmallows in the field in front of the mall. The kids were divided up into age groups and let loose to find the colored marshmallows. Both Sariah and Austin found purple marshmallows. To our surprise they each won $50 gift certificates to the mall for finding the purple marshmallows. Wow! What luck!

Jennifer was to little to join in on that event. However, the mall had a little egg hunt area for the kids who were between the ages of 1 and 3. Jenny collected two eggs filled with stickers. Daddy put them on her face. After all of the excitement, Jennifer fell asleep.

Maybe the rest of 2007 will prove to be lucky for the Shaw Family.

Messy Jenny

This was also from our Northlake Mall visit. We had stopped at Bravo's before the event for a bite to eat. Jenny just wolfed down her pasta dish. The picture sure doesn't do it justice. She had that Alfredo all over her face!!! What a sight.

HOA meeting - disappoints

We had our HOA meeting last night. It was short and sweet, but we had a very low turn out. I'm not sure why it is such a low turn out. Perhaps we need to make some radical change that would unite folks to come. You know, strike a cord in which to spawn more presents and debate. The night went on and folks were nominated to the board. Then the complaints came in from the crowd of 10, a third children - two of which were mine :). Comlaints there were being addressed. I knew that, but I'm closer to the board members. The board spoke of all the greatness they felt they had achieved. Some of the items address was around lanterns not lit, yards in need of repair, and houses in need of repair. There was 8K in fees collected last year. I believe there is a lack of communication. The board needs to get these numbers and other types of management activities out to the masses. We will see. I think I was elected to run the web site. If so, perhaps I'll blog there as well! It's all about community, right?!?

Here is our website, ForestView. I like what they have now.
