We Are Proud Of You Sariah

Sariah got an A on her Chinese Invention project in social studies. She had to select two Chinese inventions and combine them to create a new invention. Sariah combined the bomb and the printing woodblocks to create a new kids game. The concept is similar to a pinata. When the bomb is broken (explodes), the letters fall out and the kids pick them up to make words. The kid with the most words, or the kid who can identify the most letters, wins.

Sariah also had to do a monster baby project for science. She has not received her grade for that project yet.

She was also selected to join the J. M. Alexander honor choir for the 2007-2008 school year. She will represent the school at regional, state, and national competitions. Wow! Now that is talent!

Austin's Last Day Of Preschool

Today is Austin's last day of preschool. There is an ice cream social for the entire school today.

Some times Austin will say that he doesn't want to get bigger because he doesn't want to leave Ms. Shannon and Ms. Mary's classroom. They have been fabulous teachers! Austin's class raised $310 for a gift for the two teachers. I believe they are each getting $155 gift certificates to Target.

Austin's Birthday - May 22

Austin had to go to school on his birthday. He brought frosted sugar cookies to school to celebrate with his classmates.

While Austin was at school mom and dad stung balloons up on the mailbox and hung a banner over the front door that said "Happy Birthday Austin". When Austin got home he noticed all the decorations and said "that is Awesome!"

After school mom took Austin and Jennifer to Target to get some new pajamas and look at the toys.

When Sariah got home, we all went to Cheddars for Austin's birthday dinner. After dinner the waitress brought Austin a strawberry sundae and wished him a happy birthday.

When we got home Austin opened his birthday presents. There were a ton of them! Jennifer liked standing on the box of the biggest gift and then jumping off. Austin got L-Max games, computer software, clothing, spiderman toys, Cars the movie toys, a snow cone maker, a soccer ball, and an electronic bowling game. Of course Grandma Wolfe and Aunt Joyce sent Jennifer "unbirthday" presents so that she did not feel left out. So, Jennifer got two new outfits.

To finish the evening, Austin got to watch the movie Barn Yard in his room before he went to bed.

Car Wash Water Sprinkler

It was a hot day here in Charlotte, NC. So, we blew up the car wash water sprinkler that Austin got from Perry for his birthday and the neighborhood kids played in the water. Even Jennifer went through the car wash. It was a lot of fun!

Thanks Perry for such a terrific gift!

Austin's Birthday Party

Saturday, May 19 was Austin's birthday party. It was a Monkey Joes this year. Lot's of Austin's Friends came - Abby, Caleb, Ayden, Manny, Blake, Bailey, and Perry. Of course his sister's Jennifer and Sariah were there as well. Aunt Karen and Uncle Dave came too.

Everyone played for an hour and a half and then we had pizza and a big cookie cake in the party room upstairs. There was a big blow up chair in the party room. The kids just loved that...especially the biggest kid...Dad!

After lunch everyone went back downstairs to play. Jennifer got so tired that she fell asleep the minute we put her in our SUV.

When we got home Austin opened all of his presents. Austin got some new shirts and shorts, a spiderman car, a spiderman dart gun, a spiderman web launcher, die cast cars from the Cars movie, a carrying case for his die cast Cars, a car wash water sprinkler, and $20 from Grandma and Grandpa Wolfe (which Austin used to by more die cast cars from the Cars movie). He will get the rest of his presents on his actual birthday which is May 22.

Muffins For Mom

In honor of Mother's Day, UCUMC Weekday School had a Muffin's For Mom Day. So, mom went to school with Austin and they had muffins and orange juice. Austin made mom a beautiful bouquet of flower pens and he gave her a poem. Mom proudly took them all to work and is showing them off.

Mother's Day

It was a fabulous Mother's Day. Mom woke up to lots of flowers and chocolate. There was a pink Hydrangea bush; an arrangement of roses, daiseys and carnations; and tulips. We cannot wait to plant the tulips and hydrangea outside.

We grilled out for lunch. Dad grilled some hamburger's, hot dogs, and coneys for lunch. Karen, Dave, and Brenda joined us for lunch. Everything was delicious. Then mom was surprised with a strawberry cake. Yum!

After lunch, we all had a water fight. Everyone had to change their clothes when the water fight was over. I think Dad won the fight. He cheated and started filling cups of water from the water spiket out back.

Sariah and Krissy went to the mall after lunch and did some shopping. Then we all had leftovers for dinner.

Krissy could not have asked for a better Mother's Day!

Saturday, May 12

It was a hot, humid day and Sariah decided to wash Krissy's Honda Pilot to earn some money. The neighbor's kids all came over in their bathing suits to help. So, there were 6 kids washing the SUV. Really, only Sariah was actually washing the truck, the rest of the kids were playing in the water. It was a lot of fun.

Truck Pull - bust

On Saturday, the Burkes and us tried to take the kids to the tractor pulls in Concord, NC. It was We saw 3 truck pulls before the rains set in and didn’t leave.

Maybe they did, but we left after 45 minutes of waiting. Oh well. We will try again. At least we got out of the house for a few hours!
