Myrtle Beach: Scouts Day!
Having a scout day @ Myrtle Beach Ripely's Aquarium!
Doing a scavenger hunt! The kids moved around in pairs finding items like what fish puffs up. Got a lesson in shark attacks and had art time! The kids are great. Stayed in pairs with their buddies. Even Jenni pair up with another scouts sibling. Kids are growing!
2320est: It is night time. Walking around the tunnel looking for our perfect spot. Found it. Our view is of a neat school of fish. Must be 50 or so with a large iron cage. Very cool looking. This is like the coolest fish bowl view ever! Getting out sleeping bags out and ready for some much needed shut eye.
0530est: Oh boy, do we have some serious log cutters at night! I'm dumbfounded how these people get any sleep. They must sleep in different rooms then their spouse @ home. :) Kids and most everyone else is sleeping. I had to break the seal. Since we have an hour till revelry, I'll stay up and read some Romans.
0700est: Breakfast! Cheerios for Dad, Lucky Charms for Jenni, Strawberry natrigran for Austin, donuts for all!!!

Wesley Chapel Elementary School Spring Fling
We had a blast at the Wesley Chapel Elementary School Spring Fling last night. There was so much to do!!! I think the best part was the bubble pit. And, it was free!!!
I won a silent auction for an autographed hockey stick by the Charlotte Checkers for Austin. I had to bid during the last 10 seconds of the auction to pull it off. Happy Birthday, son!

Entitlements Saga: Exempting exams something to be proud of?
In a recent discussion with a high school senior, I am told, with great enthusiasm, that they are "entitled" to skip exams because:
1. Few absences in class
2. Solid grades. Not good grades, but solid B-
I explain that the exemption is a loophole to the rule. And, that perhaps the studying and taking of the exam will help further their understanding.
Reasons given for exercising the exception:
1. Because it is a school rule.
2. I'm not going to take the exams
My questions:
1. Can this hurt your grade
A. I don't know, but not worse than I have now
2. So, you have an option to get a better grade and you're not taking advantage of that?
A. I won't so I'm not taking it. (Really?)
The rub came because I believe these to be mediocre reasons coupled with a total derailment of the understanding of entitlements. To say I was disappoint is an understatement.
When I explain my position of how they are missing an opportunity to grow and t, I meant with an emotional outburst. A diarrhea of false belief. Well, that sure is an adult response, or is that acceptable as well?
God, PLEASE bless America!
